Using the database
Please note: the SPS database was created from WTO Members' notifications up to May 2007.
You must complete at least one field to start a search. If you search on more than one field the records returned are those that meet every criterion.
If you choose to specify a Date you must use the format 'dd-mm-yyyy'. Note that you can use a leading angle-bracket to chose records before or after the nominated date e.g. '>01-01-2002'
The Product field is freeform. You can name a product e.g. 'meat' or an issue e.g. 'genetically modified food'. You can use a partial string. For example: 'gene' will find not only 'genetically modified' but also 'monocytogenes'. Limited boolean searches are available on Product and Region affected fields. AND, OR will return records containing all or any term(s). When using boolean terms, place quotes around phrases: 'United States', 'dried fruit'
The results will, in general, be ordered (alphabetically) by the first field you specify for your search, and then by date. If you specify a date the results are ordered by date and then by notifying country.
The database provides a link to get the document containing the notification from the WTO on-line library. If you mouse-over the link you will see the document Code. Note that the link will show you all documents with that Code including later corrections and additions.
